SMELA successfully completes its first round of funding

The Magdeburg-based start-up SMELA has secured Mitteldeutsche Wohnwert GmbH (MWW) as an investor and is set to receive a high six-figure sum. With MWW on board, the award-winning start-up project from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg gains a long-term and expert partner.

For co-founder and managing director Benjamin Horn, a property company’s investment in a tech start-up proved to be the right decision. “The collaboration has been on an equal footing from the very start – everyone knows what the other expects. We are delighted with the supportive trust we have gained from MWW. The investment will now also be used to recruit additional staff.”

The managing director of MWW is also convinced of the value of investing in SMELA’s future-oriented technology:“This innovation will help drive Industry 4.0 forward. For plant engineers, automation specialists and manufacturers of automated machines, this innovation offers unbeatable advantages such as energy and space savings, rapid commissioning, excellent controllability and easy integration into industrial plants. For us, these are compelling arguments and hold great promise for the future,” Jan Förster continues.

In a detailed feature, the online magazine Startup Mitteldeutschland profiled SMELA GmbH and reported on the successful investment. Click here to read the article:
